The Institute for Simulation and Interprofessional Studies is hosting an interdisciplinary research workshop on Saturday, November 8th, 2014.
The Institute strives to address challenges and opportunities in healthcare to improve technical accuracy, cost-effectiveness, and safety. The need to focus on technical solutions to individual and population health warrants creative collaboration across academic disciplines. The Institute Research Workshop is a key step to further improve healthcare and patient safety.
UW faculty and graduate students with interests in fields such as business, bioengineering, biorobotics, biostructure, computer science, education, medicine, nursing, pharmacy, psychology, and public health are encouraged to attend.
Through a series of presentations and group discussions, the workshop aims to identify several collaborative research projects and to explore funding opportunities.
Speakers include Dr. Robert Sweet, Director of the SimPORTAL Simulation Center at the University of Minnesota, Dr. Mark Reisman, Professor in the UW’s Department of Medicine, and Dr. Andrew Wright, Associate Professor in the UW’s Department of Surgery. Dr. Mika Sinanan, Professor in the UW’s Department of Surgery and President of UW Physicians, will facilitate the workshop.
The event will be held in the Husky Union Building’s Conference Room 250 from 8:30am - 3:00pm.
